Our partner, MapMyFitness, is sponsoring its first ever Workout Games…and we’re partnering up to help keep you on track. For this week’s Weekly Workout Challenge, MyFitnessPal and MapMyFitness urge you to set a health goal for 2015, and stick with it. When setting your goal, try following these 4 basic steps:

1. KISS. Rather than try to accomplish a hundred goals at once, limit yourself to a handful—or maybe even just one. That way, you can really focus your attention on your progress and keep yourself from getting overwhelmed (and quitting).

2. Plan for success. Make sure your goals are realistic and within your control. Then, write them down, so you can remind yourself of them visually on a regular basis. Finally, break down your rules into small, achievable milestones, so you have frequent opportunities for accomplishment and motivation.

3. Monitor your progress. Check in with your success plan each week to help keep yourself on track. Celebrate the milestones and non-scale victories and remember: each one you hit takes you that much closer to achieving your ultimate goal!

4. Know that things may go wrong. Very few of us reach our goals without hitting a road bump or two. If you miss a few workouts or find yourself in the middle of a binge session, forgive yourself and have a plan to get yourself back on track.
